I am a marine scientist interested in understanding the impact of climate change on shallow coastal ecosystems of the Western Indian Ocean (WIO). And since the year 2013, I have been working hard to understand, using a combination of field based and mesocosm experiments, the impact of future ocean warming on productivity of tropical seagrasses. Specifically, I have been focusing on responses of these seagrasses to warming and linkages to sediment biogeochemical processes. We estimate emissions of methane and nitrous oxide, as proxies of sediment biogeochemical processes. Moreover, I am currently working on coastal acidification and its associated local drivers in Tanzania coastal waters.
