I am an aquatic ecologist with interests in fisheries Ecology and Biology, aquatic resources management, biodiversity conservation and Population Dynamics. For more than 15 years, I worked with Tanzania Fisheries Research Institute (TAFIRI) under the Ministry of Livestock and Fisheries as a Research Scientist. My professional contributions include participating and disseminating research projects both at National and Regional levels. During my PhD, I investigated on the “inter-guild differences and possible causes of the recovery of haplochromines cichlid species in Lake Victoria, Tanzania”. Under this, the two key research questions which she wanted to answer were: (1) what is the recovery rate and the status of haplochromine trophic groups and species abundance in the lake in 2000s? (2) what are the underlying causes of differential resurgence? The research findings from this research were of paramount importance for sustainable management of biodiversity and fishery in Lake Victoria as a whole. I have been published widely in international scientific journals, where I authored and co-authored over 40 articles and six (6) book chapters. I wrote and contributed to several scientific technical reports and policy briefs. I have been given a scientific talk as the Keynote speaker in the International Scientific Symposium and facilitated some training courses in the Institute. Currently, I am a Principal Researcher Officer and serving the Institute as the Acting Director of Research of Tanzania Fisheries Research Institute (TAFIRI).

Long-term ecological successions of vegetation around Lake Victoria (East Africa) in response to latest Pleistocene and Early Holocene climatic changes

Our high-resolution record demonstrates the dynamic response of African tropical ecosystems to major temperature and humidity variations from 16,600 to 9000 cal yr BP, including some of the most important landscape transformations in East Africa in the past 20,000 years
