The Section will perform the following activities:-

• Identify research projects in fershwater fisheries to be crarried by the Institute
• Prepare and co-ordinate freshwater fisheries research in Mainland Tanzania
• Make follw-up on the implementation and execution of approaved fereshwater fisheries research project and programmes
• Co-ordiante and preparation of freshwater fisheries research reports
• Prepare and maintain systems of documentation and dissemination of freshwater fisheries research findings
• Coordinate publication of freshwater research findings
• Promote research and development of suitable fishing gears in fershwaters
• Promote research and development of suitable fishing, handling and processing technologies soa s to reduce post-harvest losses from freshwater; and
• Review freshwater sientific publications published by researchers
