The Section will perform the following activities:-

• Identify research projects in marine fisheries to be crarried by the Institute
• Prepare and co-ordinate marine fisheries research in Mainland Tanzania
• Make follw-up on the implementation and execution of approaved fereshwater fisheries research project and programmes
• Co-ordiante and preparation of marine fisheries research progress reports of the Institute
• Prepare and maintain systems of documentation and dissemination of marine fisheries research findings
• Coordinate publication of marine research findings
• Promote research and development of suitable fishing gears in marine
• Promote research and development of suitable fishing, handling and processing technologies soa s to reduce post-harvest losses from marine; and
• Review marine sientific publications published by researchers
